Some Facts About Bengal Cats
The Bengal Cat is an animal of mixed breed that was formed in the sixties by Mrs. Jean Mill. It is a cross of a domestic cat with a wild feline found in Southern Asia : the Asian Leopard Cat (Felis bengalensis).

The hybrid offspring from a leopard cat and a domestic cat is called an "F1" (a first generation Bengal). The "F1" and the "F2" generations possess some degree of domestication but they are considered semi-wild cats. Bengal cats are considered "house pets" when they belong to at least the fourth and fifth generations.
As strange as it may seem, Bengal cats love water! This is due to their wild origins because Asian leopard cats are excellent swimmers. They willingly get wet when playing in a bathroom sink or a bathtub. It can be cute to see them splash water in all directions but a wet Bengal running around the house can be quite messy!
The Bengal is very muscular and has a strong bone structure! His triangle-shaped face is longer than wide and the sides are rounded. The Bengal's eyes are usually oval or slightly almond shaped and the color may be blue to green or gold. These cats are very smart and curious but above all, they are very affectionate house pets who get along with children or other pets.
The Bengal’s leopard-like pattern is what makes them wild looking but it's not the only available coloring for this breed. There are three main colors: Brown, Silver and Snow and their coat can be spotted or marbled. The rosetted leopard coat is the most popular look and can be very expensive to purchase.
